Description

Care Dorset is a young, forward-looking organisation created by Dorset Council in 2022 to give adults across the county the very best in Residential Care, Day Opportunities, Reablement and Supported Living. With our five-year “Your Life, Your Way” strategy already unlocking fresh ideas and investment, we are ready for a Head of Care and Support who can bring an ambitious vision to life through outstanding daily practice across our extensive network of services.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and leading three Area Managers, you will set the cultural tone for over a thousand colleagues, shaping an environment where compassion and professionalism are in harmony. You will design and deliver progressive care and workforce strategies, steer our CQC registrations, nurture talented managers, and champion the rights, dignity and independence of the people we support. Alongside your strategic remit, you will be a visible presence on the ground coaching, guiding and inspiring teams, troubleshooting complex cases, representing Care Dorset at safeguarding and partnership forums, and using data and innovation to keep services responsive, personalised and financially sustainable.

We are looking for a senior leader with deep knowledge of adult social care, a track record of overseeing large, dispersed teams and the credibility to influence at board level. Whether your background is in Reablement, Residential Care, Supported Living, Day Services or a comparable setting, you will pair operational grip with imagination, navigate the Health and Social Care Act and CQC regulations with ease, and bring the emotional intelligence that motivates people to give their best. You will be an articulate strategist, a natural collaborator and, above all, someone whose personal values integrity, transparency and respect mirror our own.

This is a hybrid post with travel across Dorset, so a full driving licence is essential. In return we offer a competitive salary, generous pension, excellent professional development including the chance to shape leadership learning programmes and the rare opportunity to put your stamp on a growing organisation whose sole purpose is to help adults live the life they choose.

If you are excited by the prospect of leading care that is as progressive as it is person-centred, we would love to hear from you.
